Man to stand trail for causing grievous body harm

A MAN charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm will stand trial in the National Court after the committal court ruled there was enough evidence against him.
The court heard that on May 22, Daniel Foxy, 25, from Malalawa district in Gulf punched George Sariman in the eye which nearly resulted in the loss of his sight at Hohola in Port Moresby.
Foxy had approached Sariman to buy a cigarette for him which he refused to do.
Senior Magistrate Mekeo Gauli said there was enough evidence to proceed to a trial in the National Court.
Foxy will appear for listing at the National Court on Oct 17. His bail was extended.
Meanwhile, Larson Mark Mendai, from the Kompiam-Ambum district of Enga who allegedly  wounded a person with a bush knife on April 9 at Gerehu, was also committed for trial.
Magistrate Cosmas Bidar told the court that there was sufficient evidence against him.
