THE 2017 medical symposium organising committee has received a sponsorship of K25,000 from medicine supplier Meddent.
Meddent director Sandra Pitchworth said it was part of their support to the Medical Society of Papua New Guinea.
“It is hoped that this donation to the Medical Society will further assist in expanding the education and capability of health professionals throughout the country,” she said.
“We believe in fostering the development of Papua New Guineans and providing local support and technical training. Since our establishment, we have and will continue to aspire to deliver training and education to our staff and the greater medical community.”
Organising committee treasurer Dr Paki Molumi thanked Meddent for its support to the annual medical symposium.
“We hope that your contribution will help us in coming up with a safe anaesthesia and surgery policy. We hope to get this policy in so every Papua New Guinean can access surgery and anaesthesia regardless of their location,” Molumi said.
The organising committee will host the symposium at the Stanley Hotel in Port Moresby and is continuing with its fundraising.
“We are going into a financial crisis. Many business houses are not coming to support us as they used to. But we will try our best to raise enough funds to host the symposium successfully,” Molumi said.
