THE work of the police fraud squad and Mobile Squad 13 members in Lae will be made easier, thanks to the Morobe provincial government who presented two new vehicles to them yesterday.
Governor Kelly Naru handed the keys of the new vehicles to Northern Region Assistant Commissioner of Police Peter Guinness at the provincial administration premises.
Lae City and Morobe come under the new Northern command which Guinness heads.
The vehicles were funded by the provincial administration.
Acting Morobe provincial administrator Sheila Harou said the administration had funded the vehicle to assist police address law and order problems in the province and Lae city.
She said the vehicles cost about K500,000. The Mobile Squad vehicle alone cost between K150,000 and K170,000 because it was fully kitted with accessories.
Harou said another vehicle was also bought and given to the Morobe physical planning office.
“We have bought the vehicles according to a four-year agreement we have with police,” Harou said.
“We buy them the vehicles and they will look after them.”
