THE Alliance Morobe bloc MPs and a number of their colleagues arrived in Lae yesterday to a rousing welcome.
The group touched down at the Nadzab Airport around 1pm on an Air Niugini flight from Port Moresby.
They were received by officials from the Morobe provincial administration led by acting administrator Sheila Harou and Pangu Pati officials.
A large crowd of supporters, singsing groups and students were also at the airport to welcome the MPs.
The group included Governor Ginson Saonu, MPs Sam Basil (Bulolo), Ross Seymour (Huon Gulf), John Rosso (Lae), Koni Iguan (Markham), Kennedy Wenge (Nawaeb), Rainbo Paita (Finschafen), Kobby Bomareo (Tewai-Siassi), Thomas Pelika (Menyamya), Brian Krammer (Madang), Chris Yer Nangoi (Sumkar) and William Samb (Goilala).
Students from Lae Secondary School placed garlands on them and they drove away in a waiting bus under heavy police escort.
Students from schools along the Lae-Nadzab Highway and members of the public cheered for the group as they toured Lae before making their way to the Lae International Hotel where they had a debriefing before staging a media conference.
At the conference Saonu said: “We are a team and we will give hope to our people.
“In the past, I have seen that there was no teamwork.
“The only person not in our team is Kabwum MP Patrick Basa.
“He has called me and said he will work with us.
“Even though he is on the other side, he advised me that he would work with us.”
Basil said Morobe had come in numbers to support Pangu and The Alliance.
