HIGHLANDS Western police command is now functional after an office was allocated by the Southern Highlands provincial administration.
The new office allocated by Governor William Powi to police is on the ground floor of Church Council Building in Mendi town and is headed by divisional commander and acting Assistant Commissioner Kaiglo Ambane.
Ambane resumed in December last year after the death of the late Assistant Commissioner Tedi Tei but he operated from his residence until March when Southern Highlands provincial administration allocated the office following his request through Powi.
“I want to thank Powi for assisting police with K50,000 cash to purchase furniture and computer sets for the new office of Highlands Western Command headquarters and a commitment to purchase a new vehicle,” Kaiglo said.
He said he was occupying the office with three other senior officers – commander Superintendent Mark Yangen, acting mobile group commander Inspector Peter Buka and his staff officer Sgt Patrick Mack.
Kaiglo said their telephone lines were yet to be installed but, in the meantime, he could be contacted on 7201 0114 for any assistance.
