MINISTER for Health and Moresby North West MP Michael  Malabag on Thursday presented a partial payment of K500,000 to Eda Ranu for a water project in his district.
Malabag, pictured, said the whole costing for water project was K1.9 million for six settlements.
“The whole cost was initially about K1.9 million but when it was revised, it went up to K2.3 million so I need to sit again with the officers of Eda Ranu to assess and reduce the cost,” he said.
“The concern areas that Eda Ranu will bring water to are; Garden Hill settlement, Morata four (especially Mosquito street), Gerehu stage seven, Hanuabada and Beverley Hill settlement.”
Malabag also said that the balance of the cost would be paid in two weeks to complete the project.
“With the K500,000, Eda Ranu will now proceed to the areas mentioned and when we get the rest of the money then we will complete the water project,” he said.
“The people who have been waiting for water will now be satisfied as we get the project running.”
Eda Ranu chief operating officer Dr Fifaia Matainaho thanked Malabag for working in partnership with the company to bring the much needed service to the people of Moresby North West.
He assured the MP that Eda Ranu would provide the water supply to all the settlements as required when money is provided.
