NIPA-Kutubu MP Jeffery Komal says he fully supports the security callout by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill in Southern Highlands and Enga provinces to contain the lawlessness resulting from the 2017 election.
He said the Nipa-Kutubu district office at Nipa was vandalised and a public servant’s was house burnt down.
“I condemn such actions in the strongest terms because these actions are contradictory to my hard work to build Nipa-Kutubu electorate into a ‘go zone’ area during the last five years from a ‘no go zone’ area,” he said.
He said the Nipa-Poroma portion of the Highlands Highway was one such area that would come under the security call-out.
“Therefore, I call on all parties involved in any roadblocks and hijacking of traffic and innocent people to immediately refrain from such illegal activities and put a halt to it. My people must understand that the 2017 election is over but life goes on. People should be worried about what they will eat and sleep, their children going to school, a better health facility and most importantly, how they can sustain their lives and improve their living standard,” he said.
He said a lot of people would agree with him that road blocks and holding up of innocent people were something of the past since he became MP in 2012.
