Member for Kairuku-Hiri in Central Peter Isoaimo is urging his people to register their land to prevent outsiders from grabbing it.
Isoaimo said that when launching the Aravure and Nikura Incorporate Land Groups (ILGs) at Nikura village, in Kairuku district last week.
He said that outsiders had illegally grabbed a lot of land in the electorate without proper consultation with landowners and district authorities.
“Most of the lands have been illegally acquired and taken away by the State and outsiders. I will continue fighting and addressing the land issues and making sure that the illegal land titles are revoked and the land given back to the rightful landowners,” he said.
Isoaimo said that investors and donor agencies were eyeing the electorate to invest in more projects.
“Your land is important. Do not sell your land, use the land for development purposes that will benefit your future generation.”
ILG chairman George Koava said that they have come a long way to achieve what they have got.
“The land now belongs to us since we have received the registered ILG certificate,” he said.
“I urge you all other landowners in both districts, Kairuku and Hiri, to register your land groups.
