MUNGKAS bagged titles in the men’s and women’s divisions of the Poprt Moresby Soccer Association on Saturday.
In the men’s final, Mungkas edged Yamaros 1-0 and the women were crowned queens of the PMSA FA Cup tournament after defeating Guria 3-1 in the finals played at Bomana Correctional Services Training College oval yesterday.
In the third and fourth-place play-off, hosts Tarangau ousted Yamaros 2-0 on Saturday.
The women’s grand final was a heated affair which saw Guria’s Pauline Mou being sent off for early showers for using abusive language at the assistant official.
Mungkas were leading 1-0 in the fifth minute courtesy of striker Jessica Nawi but a minute later, Guria equalised through veteran Samantha Peninsa to keep them in the game.
Port Moresby’s unkind humid weather took its toll on the players, with Guria using some un-sportsman-like play that saw Mou being sent off. With Guria a player short, Mungkas capitalised to score two goals through Shirley Loilis in the 43rd and 67th minutes to win the match.
The men’s final saw Mungkas and Yamaros battling out for the final honours after winning their respective semifinal clashes on Saturday.
Mungkas outplayed Momase 6-2 to book the first grand final berth, while the experienced Yamaros outfit upset tournament favourites  Amazon Bay with the same scoreline.
