PNG Party leader and sitting Vanimo Green Open MP Belden Namah is maintaining a strong lead for his electorate on primary counts.
After count 21 in the Green River local-level government area, Namah polled 5215 votes, followed by People’s National Congress candidate Willie Obow on 1941 and  independent candidate Basil Adeg on  1397 votes.
Vanimo Green has a total of 35 boxes, 21 have been counted.
Namah is confident of retaining his seat and said Green River people had spoken well from the votes.
“I have never got this kind of vote in the last two elections from Green River LLG,” he said.
“Obviously, the road linking Green River to Vanimo and other essential services I have provided in the last 10 years have now paid off and I am confident that I will be declared on the first count.”
