Namah summoned to appear in court on contempt charges

VANIMO-Green MP Belden Namah, pictured, has been summoned to appear in court to answer to contempt charges filed by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.
Namah was served the application for contempt charges by Twivey Lawyers who are representing O’Neill. The charges relate to Namah’s statement during a press conference on Aug 11, plus articles in the media reporting his statement, discussing a Supreme Court appeal filed by O’Neill and a stay order that was subsequently granted by the court.
The charges relate to Namah’s discussion on the merits of the appeal and the arrest warrant for O’Neill.
Meanwhile, Madang MP Brian Kramer was also served with a contempt application and eight charges relating to comments he made in relation to O’Neill’s arrest warrant on Facebook.
Kramer’s discussion online was on the merits of the appeal and the warrant.
