THE Port Moresby Nature Park has opened a new picnic area in time for the festive season.
Aviary Long-Hut is one of the park’s ongoing developments to improve the picnic facilities and create open spaces for families.
It was built by the park’s maintenance team with kunai grass roof thatching. Park general manager Michelle McGeorge said: “We are really excited to have this new picnic area open in time to host companies celebrating their Christmas parties.”
She said the park was committed to showcasing and designing picnic facilities that showcase traditional architecture and building materials. A new public toilet was also opened catering for people on wheelchairs, and incorporating baby change facilities and a children’s toilet.
