NCD call centre passes food items to Hanuabada

Over 100 bags of rice and cartons of canned food collected by the National Capital District call centre were given to the Hanuabada Fire Relief Committee yesterday.
The call centre which was set up by the NCDC Community and Social Services department last week to receive donations in kind from business houses and the public to help the victims of Hanuabada.
NCDC community and social services manager Kila Dick said that more business houses and organisations had supported the call centre.
“Papindo Group of Companies brought in a truck full of food items, whilst two groups gave cash which has been deposited in the Hanuabada fire relief trust account.
“Tokarara Ward 8 youths gave K1,000 and the PNG Football association gave K2,000.
“I would like to acknowledge them and thank all those who helped us to make this donation possible,” he said.
More than 200 villagers were left homeless when 18 houses burnt down and many others destroyed in a fire.
Hanuabada community leader Lohia Boe Samuel said that so far they had raised over K700,000 in their trust account to help rebuild their homes.
Samuel thanked all the families, churches, organisations and businesses that came  to help them.
