THE Little-known township of Hoskins in West New Britain will come alive on Saturday with the Lolovulai AFL grand finals to coincide with PNG’s 41st Independence anniversary celebrations.
The anniversary celebrations will be staged in Kimbe tomorrow (Friday) but all roads on Saturday will lead to Hoskins for the AFL finals.
West New Britain Governor Sasindran Muthuvel and Higher Education Minister and Talasea MP Francis Marus will be guests at the game.
Other dignitaries include Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko, Bank of Papua New Guinea Governor Loi Bakani, national court judge Justice Elenas Batari, AFLPNG junior talents development director Ekonia Peni and the PNG Games host organising committee members.
The grand final programme starts at 1pm, with the minor premiers Isu Gule taking on St Francis in the B grade premiership decider.
The Saints beat Karapi in the preliminary final last week to earn the right to meet Isu Gule in the title decider.
The A grade grand final will start at 3pm between the minor premiers Patuke and St Francis.
