THE new Bank of South Pacific head office in Waigani is nearing completion, says Group chief executive officer Robin Fleming.
“The commissioning of critical service facilities in the building has commenced and this will involve intensive testing over the next four to eight weeks,” Fleming told The National yesterday.
The head office will house around 900 staff from departments such as Retail, IT, Operations, International, Call Centre, Asset Management, Project Management Office, Human Resources, Support Services, Finance and Planning, Audit, Legal and Operational Risk.
The departments are currently housed at the Boroko Banking Centre, Waigani Banking Centre and BSP Haus.
“It is estimated that the process of moving all our head office staff to Waigani Head Office will take around three months,” he said.   “Additionally the building has a disaster-recovery data centre incorporated in the design.
“Our existing disaster recovery data operations will be relocated to Waigani, which has necessitated a longer commissioning period.
“BSP will of course continue to maintain and operate our branches and premium service centres at the Port Moresby branch, BSP Haus branch and Boroko branch. Only our head office staff will relocate to the new Waigani head office.”
BSP initiated a major property development programme in 2010 with capital expenditure of around K300m. It involved the construction of a new Commercial Centre in Lae, a new Security and Data Centre at Gordon and a new head office at Waigani. The Lae Commercial Centre was completed in 2014 and the Security and Data Centre at Gordon was completed last year.
