New security measures at mall

NEW security measures have been introduced at the Vision City mega mall to ensure the safety of people shopping there.
It will include the setting up of a police post within its premises because of the recent increase in criminal activities in Port Moresby.
Vision City security manager Sevanaia Koroi said as witnessed over the past week, criminals had again escalated their activities, with the festive season fast approaching.
“Vision City in an effort to safeguard our customers and assets has opted to close the Waigani entrance and service station exit gates at 8pm daily,” he said.
“The mall operating hours will not be affected and customers can use the Sir John Guise stadium gates to enter after 8pm.
“The measures will be in effect right throughout the festive season.
“With the recent spate of robberies and hold-ups around the National Capital District, Vision City will continue to ensure the safety of shoppers with necessary measures to deter criminal elements.”
Korio advised customers to be aware of their surroundings when shopping and to report any “suspicious” activity.
“Customers should always be wary of their surroundings, suspicious activity and anyone that seems out of place or acting strangely,” he said.
“If they notice anything of this sort, they should approach contracted security ProSecure or the internal mall attendants and report the matter immediately so it can be addressed.”
The mall will also have a police post within the premises as a further measure to build security.

“This is a joint effort by the Royal PNG Constabulary (RPNGC) and Vision City to lift the level of security awareness and boost customer confidence when shopping at Vision City”
