NEW dates for the National Soccer League semifinal between Madang and PS United and for  the grand final will be announced by the board today.
Defending champions Lae City Dwellers booked a spot for the grand final after beating Besta United 2-1 last Saturday and are on standby to play the winner of the Madang-PS United game.
The match was cancelled when PS United did not turn up in Madang due to flight issues but the NSL board will schedule for a mid-week semifinal match.
“There has been a critical political situation in Madang and with the tense situation, we are putting the safety of our players first so I don’t think we will have any mid-week games,” competition manager Simon Koima said.
“Lae is also seen as unfit to host games because of the continuous wet weather conditions and we have no choice but to move the games again and the dates will be revealed by the board (today).”
Koima said all clubs were advised considering the impact of political developments.
He said the 2017 NSL season had been challenging with deferred games, cancelled games, travelling issues and natural circumstances.
These challenges will be taken as lessons to build on to prepare for the next NSL season.
