AIR Niugini passengers on domestic and international flights have been encouraged to use the airline’s online check-in system for their convenience.
Air Niugini’s general manager, customers and markets Dominic Kaumu said the online check-in was an internet self-service facility which allowed passengers to check in for their flights in advance from any place that had access to the internet. “Passengers have the advantage of selecting their preferred seats and purchase other services such as extra leg room seats, extra baggage allowances and other products which may be on offer on the flight,” Kaumu said.
“Passengers can print or email their boarding passes and those without baggage can proceed to the security gate and into the boarding lounge without having to present themselves at the check-in counter.”
However, passengers with bags can check in at the specific bag-drop counter without having to go through whole check-in process.
“The bag-drop counters have signage and are visibly located at both domestic and international terminals,” Kaumu said.
“You won’t miss them. But first of all, you have to check-in online.
“Passengers can check-in online at Air Niugini’s website from 24 hours up to three hours before the flight departs and is available to passengers travelling on all Air Niugini and Link PNG destinations except for Australia and Japan, which are still being worked on.”
Meanwhile, Air Niugini is currently running a promotion for online check-in passengers to go into a draw for a chance to win two return tickets to Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia.
Air Niugini recently started flight services to FSM.
