ANDREW and Lessie Palyak are excited about the business they are making on their “Meals on Wheels” (MoW) cart.
“We purchased it through the NDBI Stret Pasin business scheme loan for about K40,000. We are required to pay K500 weekly to them,” Lessie said. “According to our cash flow plan, within the next two to three years, we can repay our entire loan.
“There is money in the market and we have seen that and we decided to invest in this for the long run.”
They have obtained a license to trade anywhere in the city.
“We tried selling at Tabari place at Boroko but the sales didn’t go well due to many shops located there,” she said.
“So we moved to the Waigani area – the road going towards the Pacific Engineering Shop to serve customers there.”
She said when they did not have a licence, police officers used to ban from doing business at certain locations.
“With the Meals on Wheels, I can go anywhere and do my sales,” she said.
NDBI chief executive officer Des Yaninen, said the cart was a fully-kitted kitchen which could be towed.
