Parkop concerned over land titles’ delay

NATIONAL Capital District Governor Powes Pakop is concerned about the delay by the Lands Department to approve titles to people who have been living in the city for more than 40 years.
He told the people of Gorobe and Talai in NCD that “we have been pushing for the programme of settlements upgrading to become suburbs and for people to be given land titles and it is now back in the Lands Department”.
“I don’t know what the delay is but it is making me frustrated because nothing is happening,” Parkop said.
He said the people should get titles to build good permanent houses like the ones in the suburbs and lift the living standards in the city.
“The citizens of this country need to have a title to contribute in a small way towards the development of this nation like the ministers, executives and public servants are doing,” Parkop said.
“Change starts with individuals and I am sure that a lot of people in the settlement are specialists in their field and they can do something to earn a living and also grow from something small.”
He urged the people to report anyone selling land to the National Capital District Commission so that they could be investigated.
