PMBL opens branch in West New Britain

THE National Development Bank has opened its sixth People’s Micro Bank (PMBL) branch in Kimbe, West New Britain.
Moses Liu, the bank’s managing director, said more than K20 million in loans had been given to the people of West New Britain.
He said NDB was committed to transforming the lives of ordinary people and urged them to dream big.
“The NDB will continue to support the people of West New Britain to realise your full potential, while promoting a savings culture among our people,” he said.
The opening was attended by People’s Micro Bank Ltd board chairman Julius Yeoh, Kumul Consolidated Holdings chairman Paul Nerau, Liu, West New Britain Governor Sasindran Muthuvel, Bank of PNG rep George Awap and Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Tommy Tomscoll.
Muthuvel encouraged the people to adopt a savings culture.
He said financial institutions such as the Peoples’ Micro Bank would add value to the strong agriculture province. Nerau said managers should help market government business initiatives that would impact the socio-economic livelihoods of the people.
Tomscoll said the branch was opened in West New Britain “because we are aware of the oil palm business which generates K1.4 billion in the country.
