PNG plans trade delegation to NZ

Papua New Guinea will send a trade and investment delegation to New Zealand for the trade and investment road show in February, according to Trade, Commerce and Industry Minister Richard Maru.
He held talks with NZ officials during the Apec (Asia Pacific Economic Conference) meeting in Lima, Peru, last week.
“We are keen on seeing how New Zealand can give special market access to some of our goods under an access agreement,” Maru said. He said the aim was to lure some New Zealand investors to PNG.
He said they were discussing with NZ visa-on-arrival arrangements for PNG people.
“We are keen on providing visa-on-arrival for New Zealand businesses and citizens,” he said.
“These are discussions ongoing important for business. Our Foreign Affairs minister (Rimbink Pato) is also engaging with them on this issue, and our prime minster as well. Maru said they agreed that apart from the investment road show, the PNG delegation would be given educational tours to study New Zealand industries.
“The Poultry Association of PNG wants to go and look at biosecurity and to have a formal sister relationship with the poultry association in New Zealand,” he said.
New Zealand has the highest chicken biosecurity standard in the world. It is a chicken disease-free country.
