PNG Power probes Mt Hagen incident

PNG Power Limited is investigating an incident in Mt Hagen on Monday where a linesman was electrocuted while working on power lines.
Acting chief executive officer Alex Oa told The National that four officials would be sent to Mt Hagen to investigate the incident.
“He was electrocuted, and we are still waiting for the report. I’ve heard about the incident but I want to see the report,” Oa said.
PNG Power employees in a letter addressed to the prime minister had included among a list of allegations that the constant power outages throughout the country was a direct result of delayed payments or non-payment of bills to fuel suppliers.
They claimed that some payments could not be made because board directors needed to sign cheques as part of a new arrangement.
The workers also claimed that this was creating administration and operation issues.
