DR FABIAN Pok, who retained his North Waghi seat in Jiwaka, has promised to serve the people again to the best of his ability.
He was the first to be declared in Jiwaka by returning officer Andrew Kulangie at the counting centre in Banz.
He polled 21,522 votes, passing the absolute majority of 19,237. Mond Palme was the runner-up on 9664.
Pok, the United Resources Party candidate and the current Defence Minister, had led from the start.
He urged his rival candidates to respect his win and contribute ideas to develop the electorate.
“We have set a history for elections in North Waghi because we have maintained big leads. We will continue to deliver because we have travelled all throughout the district and we are aware of the needs of the people,” Pok said.
He said the row over the six disputed ballot boxes nearly cost him his seat.
It is the third time Pok has been elected as MP for North Waghi.
