Police bag 13 medals at Aussie outing

Police  Commissioner Gari Baki is pleased with the performance of the PNG Team Police, who bagged 13 medals at the 16th Police, Fire and Emergency Games on the Sunshine Coast, Australia.
He said the Games were not only an avenue to build comradeship and promote a healthy lifestyle, but also a learning experience.
“The Games give police personnel the opportunity to learn, stay healthy and build partnerships with our other policing partners in the region,” Baki said.
The PNG side brought home a total of four gold, seven silver and two bronze medals.
Esther Wara and Susan Mondai won gold in the women’s darts doubles, the rugby 7’s team bagged two gold in the open division and in the sevens tournament and Rachael Pinda, grabbed gold in the woman’s 100 meter sprint.
Basketball Team 2 won the bronze and basketball Team 1 won bronze in the open category.
In darts, Esther Wara took the silver in the women’s singles, Vincent Sei took another silver in the men’s singles.
Vincent Sei and Walo Seba won another silver in the darts men’s doubles.
The rugby 9s team lost to New Zealand and brought home silver,  while in athletics, Alice Arigo won silver in the discuss and shot put, and Justus Baupo won a bronze in the men’s 100m sprint.
