Police to investigate alleged robbery of aquatic centre

POLICE are investigating an alleged robbery at the Taurama Aquatic Centre in Port Moresby yesterday afternoon.
It is not yet known how the robbery occurred, how many robbers were involved, how much was taken.
An accounts clerk at the centre told police that the incident occurred at 2.30pm as she was about to head to the bank to deposit the weekend’s takings.
Two security guards also told the police that the robbers drove up in a Honda sports utility vehicle (SUV), NCD superintendent Fred Tundu said
They claimed the robbers threatened them to keep the gate open while they went to look for the accounts clerk.
Another clerk said the robbers did not enter the centre’s office but only sought out the accounts clerk at the car park.
