A POLICE officer in Manus has been suspended from duty for 21 days for drink-driving and causing an accident at the weekend.
Acting police commander Senior Inspector David Yapu said Constable Ted Taega, attached with the public safety unit at Lorengau police station, was charged with four counts of traffic offences.
These include unlicensed driving, driving under the influence of liquor, negligent driving and misuse of police vehicle.
Taega is currently in custody.
A frustrated Yapu said recently he held a meeting with his officers and emphasised on proper use and control of police vehicles and only a week later this incident occurred.
“There is no room for rogue and undisciplined police officers in the force who cannot listen to instructions from authorities.”
