Police recruitment a major concern

Letters

THE concern raised by Ken Nandawa on police recruitment in yesterday’s newspaper is a major concern we face at the moment.
Some of the recruits between the years 2000-2015 appear to be grade 8 and 10 school leavers with poor English grammar.
They make a lot of mistakes in their reports, especially in statement takings, court file preparations, occurrence entries and report writings.
We, old timers, write and speak better English and your comment is a reality in the police force today.
On the issue of police brutality, it is a major concern and something has to be done.
Our commissioner is currently taking tough measures and hopefully some improvements may take place.
