Policy must reflect changes, growth

PAPUA New Guinea Sports Foundation (PNGSF) wants stakeholders to utilise the opportunity given at the National Sports Conference to decide the future of the sports in the country.
At the opening ceremony yesterday at Sir John Guise Stadium Indoor Complex, PNGSF executive director Peter Tsiamlili Jr said that the conference provided an opportunity for sports personnel to critically debate on issues affecting sports and find solutions and make recommendation to improve sports at all levels.
With the country moving into a new era of sports, Tsiamalili said it was only fitting that there be an all-inclusive meeting with stakeholders, including those from the region, to plot the best way forward for the administration, direction, development and progress of sports in PNG.
He said the country had moved onto a new path of elite performance and professionalism in sport in terms of development programmes, athlete and team preparation in all major codes, as well as the development and maintenance of infrastructure to regional and world standards.
