A WATERLOGGED road section at Tente near Joe Keviame Oval in Mendi, Southern Highlands that had not been repaired for seven years is emitting foul smell and has become a health hazard.
The 30m long and a meter deep pot hole is affecting public servants who do not report to walk on time as they have to walk almost a kilometre around it to reach the bus stop to catch PMVs.
Martin Dilo, a nursing officer at Mendi Provincial Hospital said health workers on night shift sometimes missed their duties as ambulances did not pick them.
“Mendi Provincial Hospital is now a five star hospital and extension work would soon be done and the area needs to be developed.”
Philip Mongea, a resident from the area, said many residents from the area left their vehicles at other people’s residences for fear of damaging them while driving through the bad section of the road.
