Primary school gets help addressing water issues

Disruption of classes due to water shortage will be a thing of the past for Boreboa Primary School in Port Moresby, thanks to Bank South Pacific.
BSP presented a new water tank, an electric water pump and renovated the school’s ablution block on Wednesday.
Headmaster Brian Kagayabi, said classes were suspended due to water disruptions, but with the new tank and water pump, we now have reliable access to clean water for staff and students.
“The renovated ablution block reinforces our schools aim to promote a healthy living environment,” Kagayabi said.
The project was undertaken by BSP treasury staff that volunteered their time over weekends and assisted in cleaning up the work site, cementing the base of the water tank and installation of the water tank.
They also repainted the ablution block and cleaned the area around the project site.
This project would have a positive impact on the community by ensuring that students and families have access to clean water.
BSP’s treasury sales manager Kerowa Maladina said the project was rewarding for the staff, as they give back to a community that needed assistance.
“The total cost of the project was K25,000 and is a part of BSP community initiative that is executed through all branches in PNG and the Pacific,” Maladina said.
On the same day, BSP also handed over a refurbished library to Gordon Secondary School.
BSP is 100 per cent committed in improving the communities in which they operate in.
They delivered 287 community projects since 2009, worth over K6.7 million.
