THE Port Moresby Rugby League women’s competition will experience a talent drain this weekend with 17 of its best players missing from the weekend action.
The 17 are members of the Southern Confederate side and coach Bagelo Solien advised them not to play to avoid getting injured with the national titles coming up from Aug 11-13.
Solien said players who played faced the risk of injury and also of being disciplined if they disregarded his advice.
He told his squad to be disciplined and continue attending training sessions because the bigger goal was to win the zone championships and impress national selectors and hopefully get picked for the women’s World Cup in November.
The Butterflies without captain Della Audama and Carol Humeu, went down 12-4 to Sisters on Monday.
Fixtures: Fri, Aug 4 – 1320 Dobo Warriors v Magani; Sun, Aug 6 – Tarangau v Kone Tigers; Mon, Aug 7 –  Hawks v Souths, Sisters v Paga Panthers. Bye: Butterflies, Royals, West.
