Programme helps women entrepreneurs

LOCAL women have the opportunity to build capacity through a business programme jointly funded by the Australian and United State governments over the next two years.
The governance facility facilitator for Women’s Entrepreneurship Kila Tau, revealed this to women entrepreneurs attending the PNG WECREATE Challenge programme information session in Port Moresby last Wednesday.
It is an entrepreneurship training and accelerator programme which will provide emerging female entrepreneurs in Papua New Guinea with the connections and skills they needed to establish successful companies in their communities.
“With over 200 applications applying since October, only 25 applicants will be selected to take part in a six-month business model competition to work with local mentors to build their businesses,” Tau said.
The application will close next week. It is free and for networking with other business women.
This will in turn create new jobs, and more role models for young women in the country.
