FIFTY-three public servants involved in preparations for Apec 2018 are in Australia to discuss with their counterparts there how to strengthen links between government departments.
They are pursuing either a graduate certificate in international relations at the University of Queensland or a graduate certificate of international trade at the University of Adelaide.
The group held an inter-department meeting with officials from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and a high-level Apec simulation exercise.
Ivan Pomaleu, PNG’s Ambassador to Apec, said: “The exercises are a key part of their preparations for next year. It will strengthen their practices in preparation for this important event.
“The opportunity to meet with representatives from Apec missions highlights the member cooperation that is at the heart of Apec.
“I wish all 53 success in completing their studies in Australia and a hasty return to their positions back home where their experiences will add resilience to the Apec programme.”
