Raiders win Kwikila crown

SAROA Raiders are the champions of the Rigo Rugby League competition after beating SK Titans 16-10 in the grand final on Saturday in front of a bumper crowd at the Kwikila Rugby League Oval, Central.
The Raiders collected the K6000 winner’s prizemoney and the runners-up got K3000.
The grand final was intense and entertaining, according to league secretary Indy Verena, however, violence erupted among spectators in the dying minutes of the game, forcing a premature end.
Apart from that commotion, Verena said the presidents of the grand finalists have made their peace and accepted the final result.
“The Titans president met with us after the game, saying they accepted the defeat and apologised on behalf of fans,” Verena said.
The Rigo Rugby League Association which has been operating for more than a decade.
It is one of the leading associations in the Southern Confederate of the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League.
Verena said that the future for Rigo Rugby League was bright as there were many young athletes who had the potential to become professional players.
