POLICE in Manus are investigating a theft which occurred last week at the province’s only female magistrate’s residence in Lorengau town, police commander Chief Inspector David Yapu says.
He said the incident happened at the senior provincial magistrate’s residence last Tuesday night. The suspects, believed to be youths, lifted the wire fence, crawled under it, entered the house and stole two mobile phones and some money, Yapu said.
He has appealed to the people in the Ward 4 area to assist police and provide information on the identity of the suspects and help recover the stolen items. “People must have respect for the senior magistrate as she is the only female magistrate serving in the province and her safety is paramount for people,” Yapu said.
Meanwhile, police also reported the murder of a man at Sohoneriu village, Penabu Salisopat LLG.
Police alleged that there was a heated argument between the victim, Francis Toyo and suspect Morgan Toyo during which Toyo stabbed the victim with a knife.
Yapu said the victim was rushed to Tingou Health Centre and later to Lorengau General Hospital but died on the way.
