LAE MP John Rosso wants to transform the city from a crime hotspot to one of Papua New Guinea’s more peaceful and beautiful cities.
He said Lae could be transformed into a peaceful, safe and beautiful city if everyone put their differences aside and worked together to develop it.
“Lae is the second largest city in the country, therefore, I will make sure that it is equipped as per its status. Lae belongs to everyone so let us work together to fix it.”
Rosso said that he grew up in the settlements of Lae as a child and knew of the areas and resources needed to give the city a physical and social facelift.
“Lae does not belong to Morobe people alone; it belongs to the people of PNG. We must unite and work together,” he said.
Rosso said non-Morobe people should respect locals, who should do the same in return.
“I will not tolerate any ethnic clash in the city because Lae belongs to all of us. Let us work together to make the city a better place for everyone.”
He urged public servants to be punctual and honest so that basic services could reach city residents.
“From now on, I won’t tolerate any slack public servants. I want the public servants to pull up their socks and be on time for work.”
