Rural dwellers lack services

Letters

THE Department of Rural Development, which is in charge of monitoring services in the rural areas, must put more pressure on the national government to allocate it more funds to allow it to do its work properly.
Almost 75 per cent of Papua New Guinea’s population are rural dwellers but they lack basic government services, and because of that we are seeing an increase in the movement of people from the rural areas into the urban towns and cities.
Many government facilities like aid post and schools do not exist in many rural areas.
Those who live in our rural communities have been neglected for too long.
I hope the government of the day can help our rural people more.
