School to celebrate opening of classroom


A PRIMARY School in the Samarai-Murua district of Milne Bay will celebrate the opening of one of its new double classrooms at Bagilina this weekend.
Bagilina Primary School in the Louisade local level government had received K250,000 from the Education Ministry to build two double classrooms.
Six weeks on, the first double classroom was ready to be opened for use by grades four and five students.
According to Samarai-Murua MP Gordon Wesley, the new and modern classroom was built by the community, many of whom were experts in carpentry and other trades.
Wesley had approached the Education Minister Nick Kuman, for a total funding of 500,000 to build double classrooms at Sidudu in Bwanabwana local level government and Bagilina in the Louisade local level government.
Sidudu and Bagilina each received K250,000 for classroom projects.
Bagilina ward member Mwadom Laseli said the first double classroom was completed in six weeks and would be used by grades four and five.
Previously, these students were using a bush material classrooms.
He said the locals were preparing to build the other classrooms for grades two and three.
“I would like to thank leaders who think of our children in rural areas,” Laseli said.
