School to host first graduation

THE newly-established Lai Valley United Church High School in the Mendi-Munihu district of Southern Highlands is expected to hold its first graduation on Dec 8.
The 96 students who will be graduating with Grade 10 certificates were selected from 15 primary schools in the Lai-Valley LLG were selected to do Grade 9 last year.
School chairman Raphael Tonpi told The National that the community were overwhelmed and preparing for the big day.
He said the community who have worked hard for the school and for free in 2013 would be reaping what they have sown.
Tonpi said 16 hectares of the school’s land had been given by the United Church and the local people freely for the development of the school.
He said the new high school has benefitted thousands of students living in the districts of Mendi-Munihu, Nipa-Kutubu and few living at Kandep in Enga.
