School planned as Madang uses Philippines link

Education

The Philippines is involved in a plan to build a school in Madang to offer competency-based training for youths, says Madang Governor Peter Yama.
Yama discussed the idea when he visited Batangas, in the Philippines, recently.
He believes that the current system of education is not working for the young people of Papua New Guinea.
Yama said the school in Madang would be based on Christian principles and for that purpose it will have its own church, with specific times for worship.
In Batangas, Yama met provincial governor Hermilando Mandanas and they discussed, among other things, the possibility of a sister-province relationship and training opportunities.
