School well disciplined: Kombra

A secondary school in Port Moresby has been commended by Education Secretary Dr Uke Kombra for setting a benchmark in discipline.
“Gordon Secondary School has set a standard of very high student discipline in NCD,” Dr Kombra said during the 22nd Grade 12 graduation yesterday.
He told graduates that the department ensured that students received knowledge, skills and right attitude in schools.
“You are empowered by education, when you go out, you have the power to do what you want to do, that’s why we say education is important.
“So today marks a time when you will be able to use that power, with which you have to go out to the world, to a higher institution and use that power that you received through your education,” Kombra said.
He said the Government has prioritised education for the last four years.
“Your education has been supported and subsidised by the Government of the day. The Government has invested by the end of this year a total of K2.7 billion. Every year the Government is committed to giving us K600 million
“Once you came to do Grade 9 this policy started and now that you are finishing Grade 12 you can be proud that you are the beneficiary of this policy for the last four years.”
He urged the graduates to be productive by using the knowledge, skills and attitude acquired while being students.
A total of 245 students graduated at midday following the business studies paper which concluded the Grade 12 examinations that started last Monday.
The science dux was Darrel Yockopua and Daniel Abie was the social science dux.
