MANUFACTURING Council of PNG chief executive officer Chey Scovell has congratulated Prima Smallgoods for receiving a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points certificate.
Scovell was in Lae to witness Prima’s attainment of an accredit HACCP certification.
He said Adrian Chow and the Prima shareholders had grown the company to become Papua New Guinea’s most impressive manufacturer of processed meat products.
Scovell said the accreditation achieved by Prima was notable for several reasons.
“Firstly Prima remains committed to doing things locally, they have worked their accreditation through PNG’s own certification services in the National Institute of Standards and Industrial Technology, and not another overseas provider,” he said.
“Secondly, the operation is the first food manufacturing investment in the country where food safety guided the entire project.
“Before the architecture and engineers signed off on the plant, everything was put together with food safety in mind.”
He said Chow and his family had long been committed to local manufacturing.
