Secondary schools in city Book Week comp

National

Jubilee Catholic Secondary School has won the National Capital District National Book Week secondary schools quiz competition.
The competition grand final was between Jubilee Catholic and Port Moresby International School last Friday at the National Library.
Jubilee received the shield and K500 worth of books.
Each participating student received K100 worth of books and K100 cheque each.
Managing director of Bradwin Publishers Fegsley Risapi told The National that  he saw that many young people were not making an effort to read.
His company sponsored the competition
“Because they don’t read, they don’t have a good command of the English language and it affected their writing,” Risapi said.
He said they were happy to work with the National Library and were planning to take the programme to other provinces.
He said there were still a lot of expatriates in the country’s workforce, adding: “Although, we are celebrating the 41st Independence anniversary, in terms of human capabilities and intellectuals, we haven’t done very much.
“We want to give access to young people so that they will develop more skills to contribute to our nation development.”
