THE National Aids Council Secretariat has not received any development funding from the Government since 2014, an official says.
Regional manager Valentine Tangoh told a summit that the secretariat in 2009 and 2010 received 78 per cent of its fund from international donor partners, 21 per cent from the Government and one per cent from private and domestic sources.
“From 2011 to 2013, again we got 72 per cent from international donor partners, 26 per cent from the Government and two per cent from private and domestic sources,” he said.
“The bulk of funding is provided by our donor partners.”
He said without the development budget, the secretariat could not implement programmes.
Tangoh said the secretariat had been relying too much on donor funding and urged the Government to allocate more funding.
“It is important that the Government take ownership and put more money in this response.”
