A NEW security firm based in the notorious Miles section of Lae is recruiting unemployed youths from the area to provide them a chance to improve their lives.
Director for Sola Security Services (SSS) Eric Koria said they started the security firm two years ago because they wanted to engage youths to live a meaningful and productive life.
“We live along 4-Mile and most youths here used to be involved in illegal activities such as hold-ups and consumption of homebrew and drugs so we started this firm to create employment for them,” he said.
Koria said so far they have engaged youths from Miles, Back Road and Taraka to work as security guards for the firm.
“We saw that the churches have been taking the lead to guide, mould and shape our youths and keep them from engaging in illegal activities therefore we have created an avenue for disadvantaged youths to help them seek employment as well,” he said.
Koria told The National that although they have just started, they have plans to reach out to all the hot spots in Lae to conduct training and recruitment and help unemployed youths to work as security guards and earn a decent living.
“Many unemployed youths are currently interested in illegal activities because they don’t have a chance to get employed and we want to employ many of them as we grow,” he said.
SSS is currently engaged with the new Badili Hardware branch in Lae.
