GOVERNMENT services and busineses near the fighting zone at Komo station in Komo-Margarima district, Hela, have been temporarily closed, police say.
Acting police commander Inspector Kenzley Silas said the Komo Bank of South Pacific branch, some elementary and primary schools and health facilities were closed indefinitely.
He said some public servants working in the area were transported to Tari upon their request, for safety reasons.
He said police have warned locals from the area not to move around Komo station and police were patrolling the area and monitoring the situation.
Inspector Silas said because of the limited manpower, police were only providing security to government and church services but he has had talks with the two warring tribes and received positive feedback from them.
