Settlers present petition to opposition leader

DISGRUNTLED settlers at the ATS block in the National Capital Distract have presented a petition to Opposition Leader Don Polye to stop the Government from evicting them.
Oro Socio Economic Development Association (OSEDA) president Harnold Kaipa said their community included taxpayers and others who contributed the country’s to economic well-being.
Kaipa said they were served with an eviction notice by the Government in the absence of a resettlement plan.
He said a petition was handed to the deputy opposition leader Sam Basil in 2014 and the matter was was brought up in the parliament but nothing had been done since.
“We want the Government to give us clear explanation on what actions they have taken to review the land titles for foreigners,” Kaipa said.
He said it was not fair for the Government to remove citizens from the land they settled on and replace them with foreigners.
