Show wows thousands

THOUSANDS flocked into Lae city to witness arguably the biggest show in the country – the Morobe Show.
Heavy rainfall in the city during the weekend did not dampen the spirits of Lae residents and visitors as they braved the wet and slippery conditions to see and enjoy the event.
More than 50 traditional dancing groups from the Mamose and Highlands regions as well as a group from Milne Bay took part in the singsing.
They displayed colourful cultures as tribal dancers stormed the main arena yesterday with their traditional ornaments.
More than 90 cowboys from the outback of Morobe  entertained the crowd by displaying their skills in a battle that involved the skills of galloping, weaving and jumping in a course of obstacles.
Horse events councillor Wayne Uechtritz said the cowboys’ show involved a test of partnership between a cowboys and horses as they had to combine their skills to successfully navigate the course.
The Lae Fire Department demonstrated fire safety and PNG Defence Force did a parade and a mock battle to please the crowd.
There was a variety of events like fireworks, marching, games and entertainment for two days.
Major business houses put up stalls to promote and showcase their products and services.
