Southern Highlands slams missing election updates

National

THE people in the eastern part of Southern Highlands are missing out on National Broadcasting Corporation radio and television during this crucial election period.
A former NBC manager David Kapi Nema, from Ialibu, said that after the services were cut off recently by frustrated  people.
“For some time NBC Southern Highlands through its shortwave, TV and national radio signals were received but it went off during the time of polling and counting  which is already leaving listeners and viewers in total darkness,” he said. “Radio and TV advertisements were done claiming that NBC is the official election 2017 broadcaster and it does not make any sense to have this name tag after the rural majority are missing out on these services.
“We, the eastern people, are flocking into Mendi where the counting is going on to hear and see results and it has already cost us in terms of extra costs of food, PMV fares and accommodation. We even received threats, get robbed and sometimes get stranded on the road.”
